2nd Hogens (36) 35pts

3rd Jim Elphick (26) 34pts

A fair sized crowd turned out for this past week’s Sunday bash at Green Valley and the scores were very impressive – none more so than that from Aussie star Nick ‘the thunder from down under’ Odnoral, who took charge of A Flight with a best on the day 41 points.

Nick was three clear of ‘Big’ Jim Brackett while the ever present on the podium, Peter ‘the right honourable LeNoury, took the third spot as he edged Irishman Connie Walsh on count back, both with35 points.

In B Flight it was Peter ‘no longer the silver surfer’ Henshaw who stood atop the podium.  Peter has reverted back to the white tees and now has a 29 handicap (anybody have any ideas on a new moniker?)  Hogens was a shot back from Peter’s even par round as he lifted the silver.  Newly arrived back from his trip back to England and straight on to the podium steps was Jimmy ‘two shots’ Elphick in third.

Monday, August 3, Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st John Finnerup (15) 33pts

2nd Connie Walsh (11) 31pts

3rd Peter Henshaw (29) 28pts

Not sure if it was the change of seasons and the hot weather or suffering from problems associated with activities of the night before, but the turn out this Monday was a bit sparse.

Those that did make the effort to play the favourite of many, Khao Kheow, found it to be in its usual pristine condition, but as the scores would indicate, a tough challenge lay ahead of the field.

It was the Irish contingent who handled the challenge best as they occupied all the podium places.  Leading the way with 33 points was County Tipperary’s favourite son, John Feehan.  John was followed up the podium steps by his good friend Connie Walsh who was two shots in arrears.  Peter ‘Guinness’ Henshaw was left to tidy up the flight, head bent with 29 points.

Friday, August 7, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st Jeffrey Horsfield (12) 39pts

2nd Mike Jeffreys (15) 35pts

3rd John Harrison (16) 34pts

4th Jim Elphick (26) 32pts

Treasure Hill, playing over 6,700 yards from the white tees, is always a good test.  The greens were slick and fast and the fairways were in great condition.  However, none of that seemed to deter the consistent Jeffrey Horsfield who had the long irons and fairway woods working as he stormed past the entire field with a fantastic 39 points.

Jeffrey was four clear of Mike ‘the Welsh Dragon’ Jeffreys while John Harrison was a further stroke back as he picked up the bronze.  Jim Elphick closed the flight with his second pay window visit of the week.
