International golf tour comes to Pattana

Players from over 20 countries will be competing at the ‘Pattana Golf Championship’ which is part of the MENA Tour’s 2017 Thailand Swing.

Pattana Golf Club and Resort will be hosting this prestigious tournament for the first time, with professional golfers competing for a total purse of US$50,000 from 16th-19th May 2017.

The MENA Tour, whose ambassador is Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke, is an initiative by the Sheikh Maktoum Golf Foundation, and the 2017 season will include 16 tournaments held in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Apart from the Pattana Golf Championship, the Thailand swing includes the MahaSamutr Masters 2017 at the Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin on May 2nd – 4th and the Mountain Creek Open in Korat on May 8th-10th 2017.

The MENA Tour’s Thailand Swing will include three 30 minute highlight shows which will be broadcast here in Asia on Fox Sports and True Sport, plus broadcasters in the Middle East and Europe, reaching millions of viewers.

Chairman of the MENA Tour Mohamed Buamaim said, ‘We are delighted to be bring our tour to Pattana, and apart from players from across the globe, we have extended an invitation for up to 25 Thai professional to join us.  Obvious the financial benefits are important, however the MENA Tour is one of the few tournaments that also offers valuable World Ranking points.’
