Phoenix Tuesday/Friday Golf Group

Tuesday, June 19, Phoenix – Stableford

After the previous week’s poor scoring, where as usual I open my big mouth saying that this course is now difficult, and when you think it is safe to go in the water again, up pops Bill Hewitt, John Bartley and Colin Gregg.

All three made the course look very tame indeed; Bill Hewitt scoring 42 points to claim first place, with John Bartley scoring 40 points in second and me old Brummie mate, Colin Gregg scoring 39 points for third spot.

Tuesday’s top three with staff members from The Relax Bar. Tuesday’s top three with staff members from The Relax Bar.

After the poor scores on the last outing, Joris Goetschalkx must have thought he would have a chance by scoring 36 points from the 28 handicap allowed (maximum for us – his official handicap being 32).  However, it is tough at the top and his 36 points was only in fourth place but congratulations are in order for breaking the 100 barrier.

Only two near pins today and they went to John Bartley and Giorgio Baccioli.

Lucky draw prizes (donated by our hosts, The Relax Bar) were awarded to Stuart Gordon, Sergio Volpi and Peter Wathall.

This week we will play our end of the month stroke play tournament for the Trattoria Italiana voucher.

Although we are predominantly a members group we welcome guests and our main criteria is that you have an official handicap of no more than 28 and you are male.  Playing in skirts is optional if you are that way inclined, but you must play from the white tees.
