A beautiful day for golf today, warm but not too hot with a breeze that was welcome depending on which way you were hitting the ball.  The Green Valley course is getting better with some fo the greens coming back.  The maintenance workers are really hard at it, getting the course in shape, though ‘lift and place’ through the green was the rule for today.

Once again it was the usual suspects that were bought in for the identity parade to pick up their prizes as the day’s winners.  Taking the top podium spot was the Green Valley specialist Mogens Melander with a man of the match 36 points.  Mogens was one stroke clear of newly returned Peter ‘the right honorable’ LeNoury and a further stroke clear of Christian Boysen.

Monday, July 17, Siam Waterside – Stableford

1st Peter Blackburn (20) 30pts

2nd Mark West (16) 29pts

A relatively modest group turned out on Monday to take on the formidable Siam Waterside layout.  It was extremely windy this day with a few showers that made it really challenging, as the scores would indicate.

The top man on the day was ‘Mr. Pattaya’ himself, Peter Blackburn, with 30 points.  Mark West followed Peter up the two-man podium a stroke adrift.

Thursday, July 20, Burapha C & D – Stableford

1st John Harrison (11) 30pts

2nd Marcus Earp (20) 29pts

After a huge rain storm Wednesday night, we traveled to Burapha in light showers to play a stableford competition on the C and D layouts.  The rain eventually stopped in the early afternoon and we completed the round in approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

All this did not dampen the spirit of John Harrison who took the match honours with 30 points.  John was chased all the way by Marcus Earp who came up a shot short to close the flight podium.
