Gerry Hannan.
Gerry Hannan.

We had a slightly bigger group out here today at Green Valley and we also had some very good scoring, and if you didn’t play to your handicap you had no chance of coming in the prizes.

Gerry Hannan has settled in very quickly this trip and was a clear winner with an excellent forty-two points, which also included a ‘2’.  Shaun Tracy was back today after a bit of an absence and he took second place with thirty nine points.  We then had a count back for third and fourth places where Bob St Aubin came out on top and Vincent Gras, who was back for another of his weekend trips, had to settle for the fourth spot.  Rod Torrie was the last man to play to his handicap and he took the fifth and last place with thirty six points.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, Crystal Bay – Stableford

1st Russell Gilroy (16) 38pts

2nd Gerry Hannan (13) 34pts

3rd Joe Peters (23) 34pts

We made the trip up to Crystal Bay today, a course where we hadn’t played for a while and again we were joined by our friends from the PFGS.  While the course itself was in very good condition, unfortunately the same could not be said for the bunkers which were in a dreadful state with more grass than sand in many of them.  It is difficult to understand why the let them go like this as it spoils an otherwise enjoyable course to play on.

Obviously our ‘Mr. Consistently’ Russell Gilroy didn’t find many of the bunkers as he again came out the winner by four shots with thirty eight points.  A distant second was Gerry Hannan with thirty four points and Gerry beat Joe Peters, who hasn’t featured in the prizes for a while, into the third place on the count back.

We had no twos today.

Thursday, Oct. 6, Burapha – Stableford

1st Gerry Hannan (13) 42pts

2nd Joe Peters (23) 39pts

3rd John Fenwick (19) 37pts

2’s: Gerry Hannan (2), John Fenwick.

The weather gods were on our side again here today at Burapha where all the caddies were predicting rain and all put on the rain covers on our bags before we started off.  However, we again got round without a drop on a day which was not too hot and very enjoyable for golf.

We played A and B off the white tees as the course was soft and playing long.  We had some excellent scores, Gerry Hannan is enjoying what is probably his best ever golf here in Thailand since he arrived a few weeks ago and has been in the winner’s enclosure nearly every day.  Today he repeated his score of Sunday and came in with forty-two points and was a very clear winner.  This score also included two ‘2’s which made it a very profitable day for Gerry.

Joe Perter is also a man who is coming back to form and today made his second visit to the podium in the week with a score which would normally win any competition.  Joe had thirty nine points and took second place.  John Fenwick was having a very close battle with another player until the last hole and a par here meant that John won out and took the third and last place with thirty seven points, which also included a ‘2’ on the difficult seventeenth hole.
