2nd Alan Rothwell (8) 40pts

3rd Michael McCluskey (20) 38pts

T4th Kenny Aihara (5) 37 points

T4th Peter Thomas (16) 37pts

Pattaya seems a bit cooler and the golf is a bit more bearable these days.  Our weekly jaunt to Green Valley was a lovely day out, especially for one Scotsman!

Masao Ishikawa, Dale Shier, Blake Hanna, Alan Rothwell and Mark Wood.

Mark Wood had his best round of golf in ages and a 43 on the card was the best we have had out here at RGV in quite some time.

It would turn out to be a stellar week for Alan Rothwell who shot a 40 out here today.  Alan found himself on the 40 or better mark for every round this week!

Wednesday, March 30, Khao Kheow C & A (white tees) – Monthly Medal

1st Blake Hanna (18) net 62

2nd Mark Wood (9) net 64

T3rd Alan Rothwell (8) net 67

T3rd Masao Ishikawa (18) net 67

T5th Dale Shier (12) net 69

T5th Fred Graham (16) net 69

It was a beautiful day for a medal as we headed up highway 7 to Khao Kheow.  This is one of our favourite courses and today she was spectacular.  They have closed the “B” track for renovations and we can’t wait to see the results.

Some of the medalists at Khao Kheow.

There were some great scores out there today so let’s get on with it.  When you shoot a net 69 and only stake a claim for fifth spot, it is a tough field out there.  Dale Shier and Fred Graham shared that podium place at 69.  Ishi (last weeks big Kabinburi Killer) and the hot Alan Rothwell could only muster joint third on a crowded box.

When you walk into the clubhouse with a net 64 you would think it to be a shoe in.  Mark Wood had his doubts and he was right!  Still, it was a fine round indeed, even with that rogue shank!  After his winning 43 points on Monday, Mark can certainly hold his head high.

Story of the day and the winner of our March monthly medal was our friend Blake Hanna.  Blake has been playing with us for the last three months and is winding down his trip to Pattaya in style.  You would think a 62 would be a record, but in fact Blake is at a tie with Brett Chan who also shot a 62 three years back.  Great shooting Mr. Hanna!

Friday, April 1, Pattavia Century (white tees) – Stableford

1st Alan Rothwell (8) 41pts

2nd Kenny Aihara (5) 39pts

3rd Doc Beard (23) 34pts

Have you played this golf course yet?  It is a beautiful track designed by the Nick Faldo team and it is terrific condition, as well as being a bargain.  The Friday green fee is 550 baht, just 10 quid or 23 bucks for a quality course.  Do yourself a favour and give it a try, I am sure you will love it as we do.

Alan Rothwell loves it!  The boy was on fire this week and shot another plus forty round to finish off a golfers hat trick.  Nice when it all comes together, isn’t it?

Kenny also did some good work out here and a 39 is just fine.  Congrats as well to our Navy buddy Doc Beard who also got his mojo workin’!
