The 24th Pattaya Sports Club Members Golf Championship was held on the 6th and 8th March 2018 at Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club, with 65 golfers registered to play in the 2 day tournament.  Although the numbers were lower than usual an exciting tournament followed.  We booked for 120 players and PSC would like to give a hearty thank you to all the players who did turn up to play.

The course was in good condition on the first day but alas there was some aerating work being carried out on the second day.  On the Ocean course we played the ‘lift clean and place’ rule.  Many thanks go to the management & staff of Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club for their assistance and their support of the event.

The presentation was held at the Billabong Bar on Mabprachan Lake with a very good turnout from the players who participated.  Ron Gale, with the assistance of Nigel Cannon, carried out the presentations before announcing all the winners.  Ron thanked all the PSC members who assisted in running the tournament, namely Ing Chaimonkon, Maurice Roberts, Dick Warberg, Paul Cornwell and Sandy McKay.  A big thanks also goes to the girls in the PSC office for all their assistance.

John Gall played an exceptional shot on the par 3 Ocean No 7 hole on day 1, resulting in a hole in one while the low gross Ladies score was probably one of the lowest ever.

On Day 1, Nigel Irvine (10) led the A Flight in with a net 73.  Playing stableford in B Flight, Hans Collet (14) posted the best score of 42 points while Peter Terry (23) did likewise in C Flight with 39.  Sasicha Duangkham (21) scored a net 70 to lead the Ladies on the first day.

Day 2 saw Bob Newell (11) rise to the top in A Flight with a net 68.  Paul Hack (15) returned with 43 points on his card to top the B Flight podium and Stanley Rees (27) did even better in C Flight with 46.  Sasicha Duangkham continued to dominate the Ladies flight as she finished on top once more, this time with a net 68.

In the overall results, Jack Grindvold (81-81) was named as this year’s Men’s low gross champion, Kimberly Pech (73-75) was the Ladies low gross winner and Sandeep Khanna took the stableford title with a combined 86 points.  Congratulations to all three.
