Monday, Dec. 11, Treasure Hill (yellow tees) – Stableford

CSS 73

1st Wilf Wellman (31) 36pts

2nd Benny Hansen (22) 35pts

3rd Trevor Schirmer (16) 34pts

4th Brian Talbot (14) 31pts

5th Markku Tynell (24) 31pts

6th Allan Hanlon (13) 31pts

Once again the course was found to be in tip top shape although it proved very difficult to score on.  This was borne out by the CSS for the day moving out to 73.

Wilf Wellman headlined the day with a very well controlled level handicap score after using some good course management.  He was closely followed by Benny Hansen who also played strategically over most of the course but three loose holes spoiled a chance of a better result.

Trevor Schirmer Had an almost good round but a couple of zeros in the first three holes on the inward half also closed out his hope of the top spot.

Brian Talbot won a three-way count-back over Markku Tynell for fourth place, finishing with a better 17 to 16 and with Allan Hanlon in sixth with 14.

Allan Hanlon had the sole 2 in the first division to sweep the rollover pool clean whilst Benny Hansen did the same in the second division with his lone effort.

Wednesday, Dec. 13, Crystal Bay B & C (white tees) – Stableford

CSS 72

1st Dave Edwards (14) 41pts

2nd Markku Tynell (24) 34pts

3rd Shuichi Kodaka (19) 33pts

4th Brendan Dunne (27) 30pts

5th Simon Kendall (12) 30pts

The rough was very difficult to escape today, especially along the fairways, but that did not appear to trouble Dave Edwards who put together another outstanding five under handicap effort.  His round was the more remarkable considering the scores from the rest of the field.

Seven shots back in second place Markku Tynell was well pleased to finish just ahead of Shuichi Kodaka, having thought he had just missed out after taking a double on the par five last hole as Shuichi parred for three points.  Brendan Dunne then won a count back for fourth over Simon Kendall with a better 16 to 15.

There were no 2s in the first division but Tony O’Neill had the only one in the second division on the 180 yard 13th which would have been worth a lot more if it had come a day earlier but was still worthwhile on the day.

Friday, Dec. 15, Mt. Shadow (blue tees) – Stableford

CSS 75 NC

1st Mark Cooper (11) 32pts

2nd Shuichi Kodaka (19) 31pts

3rd Greg Ignatieff (15) 29pts

4th Dave LeHane (18) 28pts

5th Phil Stevenson (24) 27pts

6th Dave Edwards (14) 27pts

Although the travelling was easy today, that could not be said about the course which showed all its teeth in extremely hot and humid conditions.

Mark Cooper hung on desperately to win after scoring just five points from the last four holes with three of those coming on the 18th.  Shuichi Kodaka slumped into second place after he could garner just eleven points through the back nine, having ended the front nine with twenty.

Greg Ignatieff placed third just ahead of Dave LeHane, with Dave having scored the best of the field on the back nine.

Phil Stevenson then won a count-back over Dave Edwards with a better 12 to 10 as Dave could not manage to concentrate well enough through the first six holes on the homeward stretch, only troubling his marker twice for three points.

Trevor Schirmer had the only 2 in the second division while Brian Kinsella, Tony Guest and Allan Hanlon shared the first division pool.
