Golfers and caddies prepare before the start of the VFW’s 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Emerald Golf Club, Saturday, July 21.

On Saturday, July 21 the American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12146 Ban Chang – Utapao held its 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Emerald Golf Club in Ban Chang, Rayong. 36 teams competed in the Texas scramble event with a shotgun start under mostly sunny skies to help raise funds to support the VFW Post’s local veteran and community service outreach programs in and around the Ban Chang, Sattahip and Utapao areas. There was plenty of good golf, fun, food and refreshments all offered by generous sponsors.

Immediately following the scramble a buffet and awards ceremony was held at Finnegan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant on Phayun Road in Ban Chang. The winning team was The Cricket Club (Dave Stockman, Richard Holt, Simon Philbrook & Peter Park) with a fine score of net 53. Taking second spot was the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital team of Dr. Kampanart Tangamatakul, Dr. Santa Methasin, Dr Suradel Lokduenxai & Dr. Prida Phutthasirayakorm with a net 54 and in third place came the The Snobs (Bob Poole, Keith Wooley, Martin Grimoldy & Rod Howett) on net 55, besting The Bar B (Shawn McKeirnan, Ali Kirkwood, Bee & Dee) on a 26/28 back-nine count-back.

The VFW Golf Committee thanks all of their sponsors and the playing golfers for supporting this year’s event.
