It was a very warm and sticky day here and we were allocated the D and A nines with the field cut into two flights at handicaps 7-16 and 17+.

Playing off 20, Andy Crabb recorded the highest score of the day with 43 points, a full 10 points up on Rod Howett who took second on count back over Burnie Sinclair.

Chris Voller topped division 1 standings with 37 points and Lindsay Phillips beat Bryan Rought 20/17 on the back nine count back for second after they both came in with 35 points each.

John Hall and Terry Madsen claimed the nearest the pins in division 1 while Andy Crabb was the only winner in division 2.

John Hall birdied D8 and Lindsay Phillips D2 to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while in the second division a rollover ensued to Plutaluang.

Wednesday, April 30, Plutaluang – Stableford

It was a beautiful day as we left Siam Cats but as we travel towards the course the clouds were starting to bubble in the distance.  We teed off on the West with the North to follow and after seven holes the skies opened up and very heavy rain followed for at least 20 minutes.  After a short delay we continued in light drizzle but this stopped soon after and we completed the round with no more rain.

Division 1 had a handicap range from 7-17 and Chris Voller took the honours with 36 points for his second victory in a row.  Mike Chatt came in with 35 points for second place and in third was Paul Hartley on 31.

Near pins went to Grenville Hill, Terry Madsen (2), Chris Voller, Paul Hartley, Rodney Howett, Sid Ottaway and Tom Novak.

Chris Voller and Curtis Hessler both recorded birdie ‘2’s.

Friday, May 2, Eastern Star – Stableford

As we got around the front nine here at Eastern Star today there was thunder and lightning all around but we were lucky with the weather and there was no rain at all on the course.

Frank Weiand shot 41 points to win division 2 ahead of Joe Kubon in second one point behind and Paul Hartley took third with 38.

Karl Flood beat Jon Batty 12/11 on the back six holes after they both scored 19/19 on the back nine with 37 points each to win the premier division, while Alan Hansen took third on 35.

Near pins went to Alan Hansen, Grenville Hill, Khalifa Nasser, Mark Stanley, Joe Kubon (2) and Sid Ottaway.

Khalifa Nasser got the only ‘2’ in division 1 while Paul Hartley birdied the 3rd and Joe Kubon the signature 13th to share the division 2 pot.

We had some very sad news today when we heard of the passing of our good friend and long time golfing companion Jean Yves Morel.  He fought valiantly and in the end lost his battle with cancer.  R.I.P. Jean.
