1st Mike Lloyd 34pts

2nd Colin Greig 33pts

3rd Geoff Parker 31pts

4th Murray Greig 31pts

A smaller than normal group of fourteen assembled at the M Club for the trip up highway seven for the first game of the week at Royal Lakeside.  The course was in its usual excellent condition however a strong wind of two/three clubs worth blew across the course making play difficult.

As you might expect in the conditions, scoring was modest at best.  Mike Lloyd recovered from the disappointment of the previous week’s club championship by taking first place with thirty-four points.  Second, went to Colin Greig a stroke back on thirty-three and Geoff Parker and Murray Greig took third and fourth respectively with thirty-one points, separated on count back.

One of the many vagaries of golf is how players can drift in and out of form for no particular reason.  What is even more peculiar is that at the Bunker most of our well-performed players are out of sorts all at the same time, with most today reaching a score no better than the mid-twenties.  Sure Treasure Hill is a challenging course and conditions today were particularly tough, very low temperatures by Thai standards and a strong cold wind with a chill factor that reduced the effective temperature further made for poor scoring.

Geoff Parker took A flight with thirty-points followed by Geoff Cox on twenty-nine and Ian Rattray on twenty-eight.  Almost identical scores were recorded in the B flight with the burley Neil Jones taking first place followed by Gerry Cooney and newly crowned club champion Ken Davidson in third.

Friday, Dec. 22, The Emerald – Stableford

A Flight

1st Michael Brett (16) 33pts

2nd Colin Greig (11) 30pts

3rd Jimmy Carr (17) 30pts

B Flight

1st Geoff Cox ((16) 33pts

2nd Ken Davidson (22) 31pts

3rd Trevor Priestly (20) 31pts

Near Pins: Jimmy Carr, Geoff Parker, Neil Carter (2).

When one looks at recent scores from the Bunker Boys one might reasonably ask if there is too much festive cheer going on, certainly recent scores have been on the low side.  To be fair today the greens at Emerald were lightning quick and it was well night impossible to keep the ball on any green with a slope on it.  This may have in part accounted for today’s low scores.

Some of the greens were starting to show a bit of wear and tear as we get into the busy golf season, otherwise, the course was in good condition.

Today’s winner in A flight was Michael Brett who despite five one-pointers and two wipes managed to struggle to thirty-three points.  Second, went to Colin Greig on thirty points, beating Jimmy Carr on count-back.

In the B flight, Geoff Cox took first again with thirty-three points followed by Ken Davidson on thirty-one, beating Trevor Priestly on count-back.

The race for golfer of the month is a tight affair with our newly crowned club champion Ken Davidson leading the way into the last week of the month.
