Cassarino captures prestigious title in Bangkok

Italian fighter Mathias Gallo Cassarino, otherwise known by his ring name of Mathias Sitsongpeenong, was crowned world WPMF 135lb champion at a special Muay Thai championship event held July 26 at the Royal Turf Club in Bangkok to celebrate the 61st birthday of HRH The Crown Prince of Thailand.

A former student of Satit Udomeseuksa School Pattaya, Cassarino faced off in the lightweight division against Juan Mario Kaewsamrit and against all predictions he won every round against his more illustrious opponent.

Mathias now can place his new belt next to the 4 he already has including the WBC 130lbs, Revolution Australia 59kg, WMC 58Kg and the Prachuap Kirikan Province champion’s belt.  The young Italian boxer currently trains out of the Sitsongpeenong Gym in Bangkok.

Another bout on the evening saw champion Singmanee Kaewsamrit defended his WPMF 147lbs (67Kg) belt, against emergent Brazilian talent Adaylton Freitas from the Muay Thai Plaza Gym.
