Reasonably good scores on Friday, July 5, with Clive Robinson sneaking first place by way of a better back nine from Bill Hewitt after both recorded 37 points.  Our regular ‘Mr. Consistency’ Mukesh Thakkar claimed third place with 35 points and the ever optimistic Joris Goetschalckx finished in fourth place with 34 points, relegating yours truly to fifth and out of the prizes.

Near pin prizes went to Peter Harris, Bill Hewitt, Joe Miller & Steve Gibson.

So onto Tuesday, July 9, and having recorded some steady scores for the last few weeks Arthur Busch broke loose and smashed his way to a superb 41 points to claim first place and the KPK Food Services voucher, donated by Keith Keohane.  In saying he romped it, he only just beat John Bartley into second place who scored 40 points.  After these two we were back to normal scores with Harvey Trewarn finishing in third place with 37 points and with the same score but a poorer back nine was John Clift who claimed fourth place.

This high scoring was quite a surprise actually because the Mountain course had only just reopened, and as usual far too early.  If only the management could realise that if they waited another 2 weeks for the greens to settle and be cut correctly, it would result in much better playing conditions.  Opening too early creates the problem of slow greens on the first nine and fast greens on the back nine.

Never mind, we headed back at The Relax Bar where we had a couple of refreshing drinks before starting the presentation.  The lucky draw prizes today went to John Bartley, Peter Harris, Bill Hewitt and Jim Neilson.

Near pins went to the scribe Mike Gerrard (not far from a hole in one), Bob Neylon, Bill Hewitt and Arthur Busch.

Other news is that as from the 1st November 2013 we are starting a new four-ball match play competition with a view to finding the winners ready for our annual New Year party, the first week in February 2014.
