On Monday the TRGG visited Greenwood and the usually long course was made even longer by heavy overnight rain that left the fairways with very little run.  This coupled with fast greens made the chance of high scores a scarce one.

Trevor Homann on debut battled through the challenge to score 32 points and take 3rd prize.  The top gross score of the day came from Yuji Morimoto with a fine 80, giving him 34 points and the 2nd prize.  However, the day was won by the scribe who displayed zero natural talent, but great fortune to record 42 points and walk away with first prize.

Tuesday, August 22, Phoenix – Stableford

1st Jeff Bunn (08) 40pts

2nd Kiyomi Kondo (12) 37pts

3rd Ikeda Michitoshi (20) 36pts

Phoenix Mountain and Lake courses welcomed the TRGG on Tuesday.  Ikeda Michitoshi shot his handicap to score 36 points and take 3rd place.  Finishing one point ahead and taking 2nd was Kiyomi Kondo but the round of the day came courtesy of Auckland baker Jeff Bunn.  Fresh from winning the 2016 “Pie man of the year award”, Phoenix held no demons for the man with the lightest of touches, and his 40 points was more than enough to take the top prize.

In division 1 Michael Prideaux shot 34 points to take the 3rd prize, Barry Sowman’s 35 points were good enough to take 2nd place but this was the competition for Greg Bates.  Playing off a handicap of 14 Greg took on the challenge of outscoring his handicap by posting 37 points to take 1st place.

The Division 2 golfers clearly did not want to be outshone by the low handicappers.  Ex-scribe Andrew Rich just pipped the current incumbent on count-back to take 3rd place with a modest 29 points.  Bruce Berriman, looking like a man who had just been partying wildly for the past 2 weeks, somehow managed to pull himself together to shoot 35 points to take 2nd place, but the round of the day came from John Goodchap who shot a magnificent 38 points and kill the Khao Kheow demons.

Thursday, August 24, Silky Oak – Stableford

1st Kevin Labar (12) 41pts

2nd Y.H. Baek (13) 37pts

3rd Neil Wilkinson (12) 37pts

Neil Wilkinson is a golfer who will always try to make the most of any situation and a fine round of 37 points ensured 3rd place today, however, Y.H Baek’s better back 9 resulted in him taking 2nd place away from the Australian.  The round of the day came from debutant Kevin Labar who scored a fine 41 points.

Friday, August 25, Burapha – Stableford

1st Roger Wilkinson (15) 37pts

2nd John Baxter (17) 35pts

3rd Pong Panu (05) 35pts

Burapah A and B regularly yield good scores and Pong Panu shot an impressive 35 points today to take 3rd place.  Beating Pong was the irrepressible John Baxter who came out on top by virtue of a better back 9.  The day however, belonged to Roger Wilkinson whose 37 points was enough to take the first place.

Saturday, August 26, Pattavia – Stableford

2nd Keith Evans (15) 36pts

3rd Kevin Labar (11) 34pts
