PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Thursday, April 21, Parichat – Stableford

Fourteen golfers turned out to have a crack at Parichat Golf Course.  This was the first visit from our outlet and numbers were still a bit low as we were recovering from Songkran.  The price for our game was B1400, covering green fee cart and caddie.  Or only B800 if you wanted to walk!

We gathered on the first tee and as we took our first look at this course a couple of things came to mind.  Jerry Dobbs had told the scribe that I would love this course and that it would suit me.  Well looking at the course layout (on the score card) and panic set in.  I hope you read this Dobbsy and get as much pleasure as possible; this is the hardest course that I have played.  Do the numbers 16 & 17 mean anything to you?  16 was the amount of points I scored and 17 the amount of balls donated to the water gods.

Steve Younger.

We teed off about half an hour earlier than booked for as we were the only golfers out there.  We attacked the course from white 1 tees and if I said that there was plenty of water on this course I would not be kidding. Some of the water carries were a bit too long for this golfer but other than that I found the course to be in great shape although the pin placements on a few of the holes were questionable.

The weather was on the warm side with little or no breeze, ironically the only time the wind sprung up was when we were on the tee box and attempting to hit into it.  But that’s golf for you!

Steve Younger came to play on his birthday and play he did.  Breaking his 61st year he did not show any signs of slowing down and took the day’s honors 4 shots ahead of Alex Field, with Bill Steinmann and Simon Niven filling the other spots on the podium.

1st Steve Younger (13) 37pts

Note: The GS is a “friendly” golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers, young and old, male or female to have a hit on any of our weekly outings.  We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya.  Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested in playing on 0861 503086

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts.  Bus transport departs the GS on Sundays for open grass bowling at The Retreat Bowls Club. If you wish to partake just be at The Growling Swan before the bus departs at 10.00 am. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is about 350 baht, so great value for a day out!  The bus usually returns at 3.30 pm.
