Monday, Feb. 11, Green Valley (White tees) – Stableford

A Flight

1st Jason Kerr (3) 39pts

2nd Dave Mather (8) 37pts

3rd Peter Le Noury (11) 37pts

4th Grant Montgomery (12) 36pts

B Flight

1st Barry Tregurtha (18) 41pts

2nd Terry Wagner (20) 38pts

3rd Michael Hastie (20) 38pts

4th John Emmerson (15) 36pts

First off, we have a road trip on the 12th & 13th of March to Kabinburi, so drop by and sign up soon as we only have 24 places reserved.

He’s a rambler and a gambler and today we saw B Flight fighter Barry Tregurtha shoot one of his best rounds this year to beat even the low handicappers with his 41 Stableford points.  Nice to see him finally coming into form, even though he heads back to Blighty at his peak.  Oh well Bazza, ya went out on a high at least.

Cheers Boys! Emmerson, Wagner, Le Noury and Hastie celebrate.Cheers Boys!  Emmerson, Wagner, Le Noury and Hastie celebrate.

At the other end of the age spectrum (I couldn’t resist), young Jason Kerr took the first for the A Flight with 39 points off a 3 handicap.  Great round Jason, you certainly earned it mate.  Let’s not forget the crowd of usual suspects on the podium; Dave Mather, Peter Le Noury, Michael Hastie, Terry, Grant and Emmerson all played well and all earned Handsome Man Vouchers for their efforts.

The consensus was that for the amount of play this course sees at this time of the year, the greens were fantastic.  You must sign up about a week ahead of time this time of year, so call or come in to put your name down and join us for a great day of golf.  Today there were 36 golfers joining us and thanks to Captain Phil Smedley for keeping the cats rounded up.

Wednesday, Feb. 13, Pleasant Valley (White tees) – Stableford

1st Glen Henriksen (10) 40pts

2nd Mike Omiya (7) 37pts

3rd Phil Smedley (13) 36pts

Another Pleasant Valley Wednesday, here in status symbol land … as the song goes.  No rain came our way, but the skies were a bit foreboding.  We enjoyed a nice cool day today, and the verdict was positive for the course.  The greens were grainy and took the ball further than expected, adding to the consternation of many.

Glen Henriksen had a really nice time out there today and beat the field by 3 shots over his nearest rival, Mike Omiya on 37.  Fearless Captain Phil is playing good, consistent golf these days and shot his handicap.  Not easy to do when you are herding cats, as Brad would say.

Friday, Feb. 15, Khao Kheow (White tees) – Stableford

1st Bill Yerdon (10) 38pts

2nd Dave Mather (7) 37pts

3rd Jay Burns (3) 36pts

This was a “surprise” comp as it was a last minute booking for the lads who did not get to play with the PSC Monthly.  Khao Kheow was the punters choice for the day as it has been in great shape lately and is always a popular golf course.

To pay 30 USD for a Pete Dye course in high season is great value and we will continue to support Khao Kheow as they work hard to keep the locals happy.  Don’t worry, when the season is winding down and all the tourists are gone, we will still keep coming back to play!

We are lucky enough to have made some great new friends this last fortnight with a gang of great golfers from Atlanta, Georgia and Sterling, Scotland who have teamed up to head out Pattaya way.  Our pal Jay Burns was the leader of the pack and the International Scoundrels were determined to drink us dry, and they nearly accomplished that goal!

Bill Yerdon is one of the lads from Atlanta, and his 38 was a great round on this tricky course.  Billy won the day with Dave Mather in second and the legendary Jay Burns just a bit back for third place.  This looks like it will turn out to be an annual event, so watch this space in 12 months time for the return of the Magnificent Seven.  Thanks for joining us for another great week of golf in Pattaya, a golfers paradise!

Note:  The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro.  We usually play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so come join us for a seriously fun day out.  Just call 085 434 3377 or see our website www.golfclubpattaya.com and for more information mail us: pattaya4golf@gmail .com and see updates at www.facebook.com/golfclubpattaya.
