Monday, Nov. 14, Pattavia – Stableford

As always the course here looked in lovely condition and everybody enjoyed their golf on the day.  There were eight groups out with the equal cut set at 8-18 and 19+ in division 2.

Improving his game with each round, Theo Bahrt returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 38 points.  Curtis Hessler was five points behind in second and Paul Hobson beat Peter Davies on a 20/18 back-nine count back from third after they both came in with 32 points each.

Thirty-seven points was the winning score in division 1 for Dave Howden, one point behind was Dennis Scougall in second and Jerry Sweetnam beat Dave Horne 20/18 on the back-nine after they both came in with 35 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Paul Butler (2), Dave Horne and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Kenny Cleckner, Peter Davies, Cliff Elliott and Jeff Van Uffelen.

With a rollover in division 1, Tim Hake birdied the 17th and Pete Sumner the 13th to split ‘2’s the pot while in division two, with a rollover as well, Curtis Hessler sank the sole ‘2’ and was a happy chappie.

Wednesday, Nov. 16, The Emerald – Stableford

An almost identical cut as of Monday but it was 7 -18 today and 19+ with eight groups out.

Some slightly lower scores today with 37 points winning division 2 for Paul Young ahead of Peter Davies in second who beat Johhny Walsh on a 16/14 count back after they both come in with 32 points.

Jerry Sweetnam topped division 1with 35 wins, Pete Sumner was second on 32 and Mike Kendall took third with 31.  There were some tough flag placings out there today and this was reflected in the scores.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Paul Butler, Bob Comartin, Tim Hake and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Theo Bahrt, Mike Kendall, David Phillips and Gil Phillips.

Bob Comartin birdied the 15th in division 1 to record the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, Nov. 18, Eastern Star – Stableford

An individual stableford game today for three divisions with the cut at 8-15, 16-19 and 20+ and also a pairs-multiplier with one person from H/cap 1-16 and their partner 17+.

A remarkable 39 points won division 2 for Frank Kelly while Dennis Scougall was second two points behind and the Welsh boy Curtis Hessler took third on 33.

Bob Comartin topped the podium in division 1 on 33 points, with Bill Bertram beating Mike G 12/10 on the back six after they both came in with 30 points each.

David Taylor captured division 3 spoils with 32 points and Glyn Evans took second spot, beating Darryl Blair on a 17/16 back-nine count back after they both came in with 31 overall.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Per Forsberg, Paul Hartley, Wilf Latham and Pete Sumner, and (Div 2) Frank Kelly (2) and Max Wilson.

Paul Hartley and Wilf Latham both birdied the 17th to share the ‘2’s pot in division 1 pot while Frank Kelly took the rollover prize in division 2 with a birdie of the 6th.

Winning the extra technical awards today were Jerry Sweetnam, Pete Sumner, Colin Aspinall, Bill Bertram and Jeff Greer.

In the overall pairs-multiplier we were all expecting the winning team’s score to be around 74-75 points, but not today as Bill Bertram and Jim Connelly headed the field with 59 points.  Jerry Sweetnam and Frank Kelly took second with 58 and Arthur Hancock and Darryl Blair placed third with 55.
