Pattaya-area Roman Catholics are celebrating the arrival of two statues of former, now-sainted, popes.

Rev. Peter Suraporn Suwichakorn and assistant Rev. John Baptist Nuphan Thasmalee received the figures of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II May 17 at St. Nikolas Church.

Members of the parish council under the leadership of Premprecha Dibbayawan were present as well and stood in cordon to welcome the almost-life-sized figures, as well as pictures of the two saints and associated relics.

Everyone was able to touch and kiss the relics that were locked in display cases.
