Foodland in Central Pattaya is something of an institution in the city. It was here long before all the other supermarkets and shopping centers sprang up. In fact, Pattaya Mail has been on the Foodland newsstands since we launched in 1993, and for 22 years Foodland has been one of our best selling outlets.

Due to Foodland’s longevity, the supermarket has nurtured loyalty within the community. Foodland repays that loyalty every year by hosting an international food and beverage party.

This year’s event was held on the evening of Thursday 14th of May. The local police were on hand to deal with the increased number of cars and motorbikes as this event draws in a large crowd.

Luckily this year the temperature was not too hot in the marquee that was set up in the secondary parking area, and those attending were able to browse and enjoy the new product lines being displayed.

Whilst it certainly felt like a social event, the staff was keen to get people tasting the various cheeses, cold cuts, pastries, and quirky items, such as Volcanic Lake Snapper, smoked fish sausage, pickled cucumber & asparagus, and classics like Mussels Kirkpatrick. The focus being on seeing what people liked rather than trying to make a hard sell, although special prices were available on the night.

There was also a very healthy range of wines showcasing many varieties, country of origins and price ranges, from Wine Dee Dee, Siam Winery, Ambrose, IWS and others.

Supamit Surongsain, asst. vice president, marketing, for Foodland Supermarket Co. Ltd., said, “This year we are back with the international food & beverage party. We hold this every year to give thanks to our customers and business partners who have supported us throughout the last twelve months. This is an annual tradition that we have held for many years and this time we have delicacies from many international cuisines and wines from all over the world. This has been made possible with support from seven of the biggest importers in Thailand.”

Guests were also able to enjoy soft drinks from EST and ice cream from Haagen Dazs, as well as sample many dishes that are featured in “Took Lae Dee”, the 24 hour restaurant at Foodland.

Supamit and his team were on hand to greet all the guests and revealed that, “Foodland has 16 branches at present, and by the end of 2015 another 3 branches will be created so that we can continue to service our clients.”
