The world-renowned Juilliard School and Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading premium schools organisation have recently announced that applications are open for Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard.  This is an exciting new programme from 9–22 July 2016 for students aged between ten and eighteen years old.

Hosted at the prestigious Coll่ge du L้man campus on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, this is a unique opportunity for young musicians, actors and dancers to explore the performing arts at the highest level.  Coll่ge du L้man was founded in 1960 and is a private international school which during term-time provides education to nearly two thousand students of over a hundred nationalities.

The Coll่ge du L้man, near Geneva, Switzerland.

The Summer Performing Arts programme is intended for students from all over the world and will challenge students artistically, technically and creatively in their chosen discipline of music, drama or dance.  During the programme, students will be encouraged to develop as artists and will be surrounded by others who share their enthusiasm for the performing arts.

The daily schedule will include one-to-one lessons, rehearsals, coaching and master classes led by Juilliard affiliated artists and will culminate in a memorable performance at which students will celebrate everything they have learnt during the two week experience.  Students will also have the opportunity to creatively collaborate across the performing arts and learn about life as an artist.

The Music Programme will include work in large ensembles such as orchestra, band and choir, along with group lessons and private sessions.  A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience on an instrument is required plus the ability to read music.  The Dance Programme will challenge students in a variety of dance styles including ballet, modern and tap while the Drama Programme will explore the various approaches and methods to acting.

The inclusive programme has been designed to inspire and stretch every child’s artistic horizons, creating life-changing experiences.  Children of all abilities are welcome, with activities tailored for beginners to those with more advanced performing arts backgrounds.  In addition to the performing arts programme, students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities and excursions in the local area, including a visit to the Montreux Jazz Festival and an array of outdoor activities exposing them to the natural landscape of Switzerland and Swiss culture.

The fee for attending the Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard is 4,050 Swiss Francs (about THB 147,000 at current exchange rates) which includes full board, transport to and from Geneva airport, full accommodation, full-time lessons during weekdays, all meals, excursions, pastoral care and health insurance.

There is a maximum of 200 places which are confirmed on a first come – first served basis, so early applications are recommended.  Non-boarding options are also available.  The price does not include air fares to and from Geneva, but there is a 10% discount for Nord Anglia students.  Regents International School Pattaya is one of two Nord Anglia schools in Thailand and the only one with the Juilliard music curriculum already in place.  For more information about Summer Performing Arts please email [email protected] or call on +41 (0) 22 775 56 56 or visit the Nord-Anglia web site at www.naejuilliard.school/summer-arts.
