The event was held at the young child development center in Bang Bua Thong municipality, Nonthaburi province. Also there to welcome the Prime Minister were Dr.Pradit Sintavanarong, Public Health Minister, Chaturon Chaisang, Education Minister and Wichian Phuthiwinyu, Governor of Nonthaburi. The campaign was launched in line with the government’s policies to urgently lift the standards of life for children especially under the age of 5 years old, as an investment for the nation’s future such as the policy allowing pregnant mothers to receive free childbirth services.
The Prime Minister stated that the government’s policies are designed to look after the people in all ages. Children under the age of 5, which account for over 6 million of the population each year, are considered the most important age groups for growth and development in every aspect. It is the age where foundations of life standards and mental wellness are embedded to create well rounded human resources to bring the nation forward in the future.
The Ministry of Education, Public Health and Interior along with municipality officials will work together to integrate and continuously push forward such policies. Aims of the policies are to raise the standards of disease prevention, hygiene, nutrition, learning and safety in 20,000 child centers and 26,000 kindergarten schools nationwide.
