UDON THANI, 6 January 2014 Pro-government networks in the Northeast are holding a meeting in Udon Thani to determine their next move against the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) during an upcoming shutdown of Bangkok.

Members from 20 provinces will converge to lay out plans to oppose the shutdown on January 13 and the rumoured military coup this month.

The army has announced it will be moving heavy artillery and armaments including tanks into Bangkok tonight, to be used in a parade marking the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day on January 18.

Yesterday, anti-government protesters were reportedly attacked in Chiang Mai by pro-government supporters as the PDRC members tried to campaign for the local people to support national reform to take place before the country goes to the polls. The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship protesters allegedly hurled bottles and stones at the protesters’ convoy and assaulted some motorcycle-riding female protesters.
