TRANG, 12 June 2014 – A combined force of police and army personnel conducted a raid on Trang province’s prison yesterday to eradicate drug-trafficking.

The raid was conducted on an order by the National Council for Peace and Order. 185-strong security team carried out a thorough search at 5.30 AM yesterday but did not find any hidden weapons or narcotics inside the prison.

The facility has been qualified as a white prison in 2012, meaning it is free of drugs and smuggled mobile phones.

The NCPO has recently conducted a number of raids, mostly on houses of former politicians and protest figures.
