An expectant mother who realized she wasn’t going to make it to the hospital pulled over in Najomtien where two traffic cops delivered her baby.

Pol. Capt. Chatchai Sripalang and Pol. Capt. Thepparod Kaseamsuk called on their training to deliver a healthy baby girl in the front seat of an Isuzu pickup truck on Sukhumvit Road at the border of Huay Yai Moo 1 village April 6.

Mother Pathinee Boonkarn, 20, said she was at home when contractions began. Having delivered two children previously, she knew labor was imminent and had a friend drive her to the hospital. But she soon realized she wouldn’t make it and stopped at a police box to ask for help.

The two officers called the rescue vehicle from Yansangwararam Temple which took mother and child to the hospital after the delivery.
