Three police killed in Pattani bomb attack

PATTANI, April 26 — Three police were killed in a bomb attack at the venue for an annual fishing competition in Pattani’s Sai Buri district on Friday.

The explosion occurred at around 5.40pm at Sai Buri municipality where the annual fishing competition took place.

Three police were killed while at least five people were injured.

Police said the bomber placed a homemade bomb near a police checkpoint tent, 200 metres from the area where the opening ceremony of the fishing competition is held.

The opening ceremony was scheduled to start at 6pm and Piya Kitthaworn, deputy secretary-general of the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SPAC), who was scheduled to attend the ceremony, was reportedly safe as he was en route to the event.
