Thailand to host Connect Asia-Pacific Summit and ITU Telecom World 2013

BANGKOK, 8 November 2013 Thailand is set to play host to 2 major events: Connect Asia-Pacific Summit and ITU Telecom World 2013, on November 18-22; with around 2.6 billion baht expected to change hands during the 5-day events. 

The government is set to spend 230 million baht in organizing the Connect Asia-Pacific Summit and the ITU Telecom World 2013. According to Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Anudith Nakornthap, these 2 major events will be key to driving the country’s ICT and MICE industries, as he expects more than 20,000 leading technology-related companies worldwide to show up, with a combined transactions of 2.6 billion baht to be made during the events.

Given concerns over political uncertainty have been raised by several sectors, Minister Anudith does not believe it will have adverse impacts on the two events, as they are not related to politics; besides, they will only bring good things to this country, he added.

According to him, many countries have already accepted the invitation to join the events. Those countries include New Zealand, Pakistan, Micronesia, Japan, Korea, and China.

The Connect Asia-Pacific Summit and the ITU Telecom World 2013 are scheduled for November 18-22 at IMPACT Muangthong Thani.
