Thailand to develop powder influenza vaccine

BANGKOK, 9 January 2013  The Department of Medical Sciences and the Government Pharmaceutical Organization have agreed to develop powder influenza vaccine. 

An MOU has been signed by both organizations, agreeing to cooperate on researches on production development, semi-industrial production of health products, and human resources development.

The first two projects will involve the making of dry influenza vaccine from live attenuated vaccine and the development of Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine from mouse brain.

The dry influenza vaccine research is expected to take 1-2 years; while the tested product is expected to be used in five years’ time. The scientists want to develop the vaccine in the form of in order to extend its storage life.
