Thai PM explores investment opportunities in Belgium, Sweden

BANGKOK, Mar 4 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra left Thailand today for a four-day visit to Sweden and Belgium to expand Thailand’s trading and investment opportunities in the two European countries.

Accompanied by over 40 Thai businessmen, the premier said Thailand will seek to open new investment channels particularly in agriculture, fashion, alternative energy products, and tourism.

There is also an opportunity for the kingdom to promote its medical service which has been highly developed among Southeast Asian countries, she said.

Ms Yingluck plans to discuss expanded Free Trade Agreements and promotion of Thailand as a tourist destination for travellers from the two countries.

Thailand will host an exhibition promoting Thai Hom Mali, the country’s distinctive jasmine or fragrant rice, from the Thung  Kula Long Hai region in the Northeast which will be registered as a geographical indication (GI) internationally marking the origin of the product.
