Gen Suvon, a guest of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, met Thailand's Defence Forces chief Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn, who is also deputy chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters yesterday.
During the meeting, Gen Suvon asserted the two countries' positive and long-standing bilateral relations.
He also said that the Lao army understood the NCPO and hoped the latter would achieve the goals of its roadmap for Thailand.
Gen Suvon also said that Thai and Lao armed forces had close ties in training, education, visits, border affairs and that they had made good progress in boundary demarcation.
He also thanked the Thai armed forces for expressing condolences for the death of Lao Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Douangchay Phichit in an air crash in Pakse on May 17 and for the Thai military contribution to the search and rescue mission following the accident.
