At the Gourmet Market, Siam Paragon Department Store, Mr.Warathep stated that nowadays, Thailand produces over 11,000 tons of honey per year and exports over 8,900 tons of honey worth 478 million baht. Thai honey’s main export markets are Germany, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia. Thailand ranks 32nd among the world’s honey exporters and 2nd in the ASEAN region.
Thailand imports over 6,500 tons of honey worth 385 million baht. The Thai honey industry is a continuous all round industry, and its processed products include such items as honey jelly, bee pollen, and honey milk. There are 954 bee farms in Thailand. The Department of Agricultural Extension has plans to develop and restructure the entire bee farming industry to raise the standards of Thai honey.
The Honey Festival is being held during the 6th-12th August 2013 at the Gourmet Market at Siam Paragon Department Store, Bangkok. Visitors will be impressed by the display of a wide variety of local bees and bee products. Quality honey is sold at the event. Entry is free.
