A teenager was injured after apparently falling from a Sukhumvit Road pedestrian crossing.

Chockhai Leechaikul, 17, suffered a broken hip and skull in the 9:30 p.m. accident Dec. 17. Police believe he fell, and was not pushed, from the 5-meter-high bridge over Sukhumvit at South Road. Chockhai fell onto a passing car and was transported to Banglamung Hospital.

Local motorcycle-taxi driver Cherdchai Thummapratheep, 45, said the sound of the teen hitting the car was like a car crash. He turned around and saw the youth lying in the middle of the street.

Chockhai’s mother Thongbon Leechaikul, 45, said her son often climbs poles and trees and likely was climbing the bridge and fell while playing around.
