Taxi driver returns HK man’s fat wallet

A Hong Kong tourist’s year-end holiday was saved after a taxi driver returned the fat wallet he left in his cab.

Praset Thipdong, 61, returned the wallet to Augustine Tong Kit Hang, 48, in front of Pattaya police Dec. 28. Inside the wallet was a mix of currencies worth in excess of 162,000 baht.

Prasert said he had taken the tourist from his hotel to the Harbor Mall the night before and, this morning, found his wallet in the back seat. He contacted police to track down the man.

The driver said he never considered keeping the money, as it would damage Thailand’s tourism industry, and that he had returned other forgotten bags and property before.
The tourist was delighted to get all his cash back and thanked the driver.
