BANGKOK, 27 October 2011  – Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) has urged residents in provinces on the western side of the Chao Phraya River to boil the tap water before drinking as the raw water quality has been affected by the floods.

The precautionary advice applies to Mueang, Bang Bua Thong, Bang Yai, Sai Noi, and Bang Kruai districts in Nonthaburi province, Phra Pradaeng and western Phra Samut Chedi districts in Samut Prakan province, and all the 15 districts in Thon Buri.

Although the tap water is not of drinkable quality in these areas, it is still safe for general purposes. MWA is trying to improve the tap water quality in the three provinces and will immediately inform the public when the situation returns to normal.
