NARATHIWAT, April 22 – A suspected insurgent was shot dead and a policeman was injured during a police raid in Narathiwat on Sunday morning.

About 30 border patrol police officers raided a house in Ruso district after learning that Tuwae-anun Nima, a member of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) insurgency group, evading an arrest warrant for collusion in an attempt to kill an official, was staying there.

When the police entered the house, the suspect, hiding on the roof, fired at the police, injuring one police officer.

The police then fired back at him and he died immediately.

His body was moved to Ruso hospital, awaiting relatives to retrieve for religious ceremony.
