According to Supreme Commander Gen Thanasak Patimaprakorn, the government and the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) should come together and seek a win-win solution to the current political standoff, while admitting that finding a mediator acceptable to both sides is difficult.
He said the situation was becoming more and more serious as there had been several violent incidents taking place during the past week. Both the government and the protesters may have to take a step back for the country to move forward, he added.
He compared Thailand to a sick patient with complications who needed an urgent medical attention.
Lastly, the supreme commander insisted that soldiers were obliged to maintain the nation’s sovereignty and national security as well as protecting the citizens.
