Pattaya is scaling back its annual Mother’s Day parade, saying a more-orderly procession will honor HM the Queen better on her birthday.

City officials announced that Pattaya’s 42 communities, schools, and private organizations can all participate in the Aug. 12 Beach Road parade and celebration at Bali Hai Pier, just with fewer people. Also, there will be only one marching band in this year’s parade.

The band from Pattaya School No. 7 will lead the parade and perform the Royal Anthem and Sadudee Maharacha en route to Bali Hai.

The parade begins at 5 p.m. in front of Royal Garden Plaza, with the Bali Hai ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. Beach Road will be closed from Central Road southward at 3 p.m. and side streets will be blocked until the parade reaches Bali Hai.
