A Sattahip teenager who fell asleep behind the wheel swears that a Buddhist amulet saved him from injury when his truck crashed.
Sarawut Khamsamran, 19, said he was hauling about a ton of raw fish and chicken to a processing plant in Ban Phe, near Koh Samet, Feb. 6 when he fell asleep and his truck slammed into a traffic island.
He woke up to find himself trapped inside, but managed to escape and saw he was uninjured, except for a bruised chest.
He believed it was a miracle that he escaped unhurt from the crash that wrecked the truck and attributed his good luck to a Luang Poh Dam Buddha amulet that was on his dashboard.
Luang Poh Dam has been highly respected amongst Sattahip’s Samae San residents for the past 50 years and he now believes he knows why.
Word of the seafood vendor’s fortunate escape from death spread and a crowd formed at Wat Chong Samae San, but the temple had no more of the identical amulets to sell.
