Sleeping driver snarls traffic in Sattahip

Traffic on Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip backed up for more than 20 minutes as police tried to rouse a driver who fell asleep waiting for a red light to change.

Rojanadhammasathn Sattahip Foundation medics were called to a U-turn at the kilometer marker 1 on Sukhumvit Road Sept. 9 where a Honda car was stalled. The vehicle’s lights were on, engine running and the air conditioning on full blast as Pichit Thetsawat, 45, sat sleeping behind the wheel.

Police diverted the long line of frustrated drivers behind Pichit, then tried to wake him, which they couldn’t do. After 20 minutes, officials pushed the car to the side of the road and waited for a relative to come take the drowsy driver home.
