The four provinces being warned by the National Disaster Warning Center are Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, and Phang-Nga. They are told to brace for flash floods and mudslides due to continuous precipitation during the next 2 days.
The center reported that a house in Mae Salong Nai Sub-district in Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai, was heavily damaged by mudslide. The incident effectively ruined the house's kitchen and appliances. The home owner has however miraculously survived the episode. Mudslides also blocked off several roads in the province.
In Phang-nga Province, flash floods stranded 16 Scandinavian tourists venturing into hilly areas in Tambon Kheuk Khak , Takua Pa District. All of the tourists have been successfully rescued with four elephants deployed in the rescue operation.
The Tambon Kheuk Khak Municipality has earlier prohibited tourists from swimming neither in the sea nor at waterfalls in the area due to the current widespread and intensified rainfalls.
