PHETCHABUN, 23 November 2013 The Office of the National Water and Flood Management Policy hosted forums to gather the opinions of Samut Songkhram and Phetchabun residents on the upcoming water management infrastructure on Friday.

Around 3,000 people attended the forum in Samut Songkhram on Friday. Under the planned water infrastructure, a water channeling canal will be dug in Samut Songkhram province, by means of dredging parts of the Mae Klong River in Bang Khonthi district. The new water channel will enable excess water to flow into the sea at a rate of 1,920 cubic meters per second.

In Phetchabun, locals expressed their thoughts on the planned Huay Tha Phon Reservoir in Mueang district. The reservoir will better guard against drought and floods for people in areas above Pasak Chonlasit Dam.
