National Police Chief – Police General Adul Saengsingkaew revealed on Monday that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has recently been discussing with the Royal Thai Police about the adjustment of the deployment of police officers and the cancellation of the Emergency Decree in the violence-torn Deep South.
The discussion took place after the government earlier lifted the emergency rule in some parts of Songkhla Province.
Police General Adul stated that the Royal Thai Police will look into all scenarios before coming up with the best plan to substitute parts of military personnel the with police officers, who will work alongside other security teams in keep order and peace of the conflict region.
He added that the PM has instructed the police force to work more integratively with other agencies in efficiently tackling years of insurgent violence.
The Prime Minister also urged the police to step up clampdown on drug trade, human trafficking and illegal ivory trade while doing more to ensure the safety of tourists before Thailand enters the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
The National Police Chief said that all policies the Premier has given will be adopted for implementation accordingly.
