Royal projects in aid of Cambodia extended by three more years

BANGKOK, 22 May 2013 – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 21 May witnessed the signing of an agreement to extend the Royal Project on educational and public health assistance to Cambodia by three more years. 

The signing ceremony was held at Chitralada Palace between representatives of the Committee for the Royal Project on educational and public health assistance to Cambodia and the Cambodian government.

HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has provided assistance to Cambodia under the mentioned project since 2005. The assistance will expire on 30 September 2013. Both sides have agreed to extend the effectiveness of the project for another three years to 2016. Since the project’s inception, royal assistance to Cambodia has included the construction and development of the Kampong Chertial College in Kampong Thom province, making it a model educational institution in human resource development. Her Royal Highness has also provided scholarships ranging from vocational to doctoral degrees to students and teachers in various Cambodian schools.

So far 697 Cambodian students and teachers have benefited from the royal scholarships, almost half of them were given to Kampong Chertial College. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness granted an audience to this year’s recipients of royal scholarships
