A rescue worker finally manages to restrain the python’s head.

Why did the python cross the road? Sattahip residents may never know, as authorities had to scoop a 4-meter-long snake off Sukhumvit Road because it was blocking the passage of some unnamed high-ranking officials.

Sawang Rojanathamsathan Foundation animal experts were called Oct. 17 when police guarding the procession of “VIPs” saw the giant python was blocking traffic by slowly slithering across the road opposite Soi Kulab. The reptile drew lots of attention from drivers of blocked motorbikes and cars. But with more important people on the way, police decided they needed to clear the roadway.

Snake catchers attempted to remove the python, but it retreated to some high grass. It was caught about 10 minutes later and was taken to an unpopulated area near Soi Kaopet.
