Minister of Public Health MD Prasert Sinthawarong said the true costs of medical services covered the costs of medicines, equipment, durable articles, etc. The subcommittees responsible for the pricing adjustments found that there were 758 new services, most of which were in pathology clinical and restorative medical services. The costs of some services were found to have changed due to changing medical technologies and other factors.
The minister confirmed that the pricing adjustments would not affect medical service providers as most people had access to the government’s universal health care scheme. He added that public hospitals would earn more from foreign patients after the new pricing was in effect.
