Minister of Public Health Wittaya Buranasiri said hospitals in Muslim predominated areas will now be equipped with Halal food kitchens, in order to prepare meals in accordance with the Islamic principles.
According to the minister, Yala Hospital has been successful in establishing a halal kitchen which has recently won the highest recognition in halal food standard called the Hygiene Assurance Liability Quality (HALQ). It has also been recognized by the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand and the Provincial Islamic Committee. Yala Hospital’s halal kitchen is another success claimed by the Ministry of Public Health after Satun Hospital earlier won similar recognitions.
Mr Wittaya said the ministry will continue to work to assure that Halal food products will not be contaminated with substances or ingredients that are not permissible for Muslims to ingest.
