Speaking after presiding over the opening ceremony of the campaign, Public Health Minister Pradit Sintavanarong said the “Good Health Starts Here” campaign helps inform people of health problems and encourage them to keep themselves healthy.
He further revealed that about 400,000 people in Thailand die each year. 30 percent of the number or around 120,000 deaths were caused by non chronic diseases and accidents. As a result, he said the ministry has come up with a project to educate people regarding the issue and to keep them in good health. He added that not just doing the exercise will keep them healthy, but food that people consume as well can determine their health conditions.
Lastly, he said, the ministry has set a target that in the next 10 years, all Thais will have good health with an average life expectancy of 80 years.
