BANGKOK, 29 May 2012  – The PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) has announced that it will begin the exploration for natural gas in Myanmar.

According to PTTEP President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tevin Vongvanich, an agreement will be signed on June 6th, allowing the company to explore a 10,000-square kilometer area in Myanmar. The exploration is expected to last three years.

Mr Tevin stated that the PTTEP will seek more areas in Myanmar for further exploration as the neighboring country has abundant natural resources. He added that the company will continue to explore an area called M3 in Myanmar. If it finds enough natural gas reserve, it will use the area for gas distribution to Yangon.
