PRD deputy chief visits Mae Sot to observe the country’s first SEZ

TAK, 9 Mar 2015 – Deputy Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department Prawin Pattanapong and his entourage on Monday visited Mae Sot border district in Tak Province, to study the progress of the country’s first Special Economic Zone which has been established to catch up with business opportunities offered by the approaching ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

Mr. Prawin met with the provincial committee responsible for the economic zone establishment, led by Tak Governor Hataya Tanti as well as Public Relations officers from the 17 northern provinces and Radio Thailand officials in Tak. The study visit was aimed at equipping the PRD officials with knowledge about the special border economic zone which will play an important role in trade and investment promotion during the AEC, due at the end of this year.

Mr. Prawin will also observe the development and management strategies in the province during his 3-day visit. He will discuss possible methods to improve the quality of life of the locals and gather as much information as possible for use in publicizing the special border economic zone before and during the AEC.

The PRD Deputy Director-General added that his agency would step up its operations to promote understanding between the government and Thai people, underline the unity, and instill love for the nation, religion, and the monarchy.
