According to Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sakda Noppasit, the PCD has been examining pollution sources created by ten types of businesses and their waste treatment systems. In the inspection process, owners of those businesses are told to follow the ministerial regulation issued under Section 80 of the Environmental Act B.E. 2535, regarding environment quality and promotion. The regulation specifies 10 businesses to compile and report statistics of waste treatment regularly, namely hotels, industrial estates, factories, hospitals, gas stations, condominiums, aquaculture ponds, department stores, housing development, and restaurants.
He reiterated that those business owners, from now on, will have to strictly follow the regulation, by reporting every step and detailed information back to the Pollution Control Department. Anyone found in violation of the environmental law, he/she is entitled to a fine of no more than 100,000 baht or an imprisonment of no more than 1 year, or both.
