Pattaya police encouraged residents of the Soi Kophai Community to be their eyes and ears when it comes to drug dealing.

Pol. Sr. Sgt. Maj. Rachapol Khunthong began the event when he led a group of officers to the South Pattaya neighborhood Dec. 8 for its anti-drug rally.

The objective of the campaign was to encourage residents to watch their community and report suspicious activities involving drug dealers and users.

Targets include all homes, apartments and other accommodations where people are seen behaving suspiciously, which can potentially lead to the arrest of drug dealers.

The Soi Kophai Community was one of the first communities to conduct an Anti-Drug campaign.

Those who agree to cooperate with the police are ensured confidentiality and will be named as heroes of the local community, helping police in their anti-drug efforts.

Drugs and other illegal products are known to be smuggled into various communities and those activities are often seen by residents instead of the police.

Police will work closely with residents as undercover agents in any communities that are reported to have suspicious drug activity. This will help terminate drugs within all communities and reduce the numbers of crimes occurring in and around Pattaya, making it a safer place to stay.
